Documentation of the arrest and disappearance of at least 21 people in Afrin, including a woman, since the beginning of February 2021
The Turkish-backed armed groups continue to carry out more arrests and kidnappings of civilians, as the rates of violence, crime, arrest and kidnapping have increased in the Afrin region and all of the areas controlled by the Turkish armed forces in northern Syria.
The Turkish forces and the Syrian armed groups supported by them continue to commit more violations and do not care about calls to stop the daily raids, arrest and kidnap citizens for the motive of obtaining ransom, prevent their families from knowing the location or reasons for their detention, refuse to bring them to trial and prevent them from appointing a lawyer.
During January 2021, the areas under Turkish control in northern Syria witnessed the arrest of (90) people, of whom we were able to document their names, while the actual number is more than that, especially since there are names that their families have reserved to mention, in addition to cases of detention that we were unable to reach. In addition, the killing of civilians under torture, and multiple cases of violation were monitored and documented.
The prevalence in this region is daily systematic looting, the seizure of people’s homes and properties, olive seasons, logging and other things, in addition to daily arbitrary arrests, kidnapping of people as hostages for a ransom, and harassment of the population.
Launching military chaos and dozens of terrorist groups is a deliberate Turkish policy; However, it is carried out by the “Syrian armed groups” under the name of the “Syrian National Army” of the Syrian Interim Government / Coalition. All this is taking place under the watchful eyes of the Turkish forces and their participation.
Since the Turkish forces took control of the city of Afrin and its incursion into northern Syria, the arrest of (7433) people was documented, where (1098) people were tortured, of whom 137 were killed, about 5100 of them were released, while the fate of the rest of the detainees is still unknown, while a number of They were released after a ransom was paid to 1,255 people. In addition, 2,391 people were killed as a result of combat operations, bombings, assassinations, and battle remnants of unexploded mines.
The number of Syrian refugees killed by Turkish soldiers’ bullets has increased to 480, by the end of January 2020, among them (90 children under the age of 18 years, and 62 women). The number of wounded and injured by gunshot or assault increased to 568 people, who are trying to cross the border, or residents of Syrian border villages and towns, or farmers, and owners of lands adjacent to the border, where they are targeted by the Gendarmerie with live bullets.

February 1:
Armed men from the National Army stormed the village of Semalka in the area of ​​Mabata / Maabatli in Afrin, and carried out a campaign of arrests of 5 people, namely: Yusef Battal bin Muhammad, his mother Lotfiya, Shiar Seydou bin Kulkul, his mother Aisha, Ahmed Seedo bin Abdul Rahman, his mother, Muzayt, Yusef Battal bin Muhammad and his mother, Lotfiya Araz Yusuf bin Muhammad Khalil.
The armed men, accompanied by members of the “Military Police,” stormed the house of the citizen (Rawad Wahid and his mother, Jihan) in the center of Afrin, and arrested him, who is from Aranda village in Shih district.
It was also reported that the armed men loyal to Turkey arrested the young man (Rinas Hasso, 20 years old), by the Amshat faction (Suleiman Shah) in the Shia area of ​​Afrin, and Rinas was arrested on January 21 of this year, and he was released after his health deteriorated as a result of being tortured In detention.
February 2:
The police arrested a Kurdish woman from the village of Kafr Safra, in the district of Jandrees, her name is (Brevan Shaheen Shaheen, 33, her mother, Amina), who is married and has 5 children.
In the village of Souraba in Mabata district, Afrin, 4 people were arrested by the National Army gunmen, they are: Hussein Maamo bin Mustafa, Ali Omar, Reber Mustafa Jaafar, Siamand Waheed Jaafar, and in the village of Maratah, Abdo Hanan, 55, was kidnapped.
February 3:
It was reported that (Muhammad Sheikh Muhammad, 48, from the village of Qarah Tappah, Sharran district) and (Ahmed Abd al-Hanan Khalil, from the village of Maersaka, Sharan district) were arrested by the Turkish intelligence service, and they were taken to an unknown destination.
Since the beginning of February, the Suleiman Shah faction imposed a suffocating siege on the village of “Kakheri” in the district of Maabatli in the countryside of Afrin for the purpose of material extortion and the collection of ransoms. Against the background of the Turkish authorities organizing a tour for journalists in the village, for the first time, especially since many reports indicated that Al-Ashat transformed that area into a colony, harassed the people and arrested 16 people, including minors, and released some of them after they were severely tortured and transported some of them to the hospital For treatment .
February 4:
The arrest of the citizen Roh Wahid Mustafa (37 years), a resident of Aranda village in the Shia district, was documented while on his way from Afrin to Azaz to buy supplies for his sewing workshop in Afrin.
The arrest of 6 people by militias (Samarkand Brigade – grandchildren of Khaled bin Al-Walid) have also been documented: “Ahmed Hassan Mamed (22 years), Hassan Hassan Hass (23 years), Murad Seydou Khlo (24 years), Abdul Rahman Muhammad Abdo Majeed ( 24 years old), and Muhammad Khalil Murad, Ali Haji bin Qadir (31 years old). They were from the village of Kafr Safra, which is affiliated with Jenderes sub-district in Afrin countryside, they were kidnapped during a raid on their homes
